# Summary

  1. US promised further cooperation with China in search of peace
  2. With the intervention of Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Hamas in Gaza, China hopes that their relation with Iran could mean something
    1. Iran wishes to strengthen relationship with China
  3. Two sides of opinions and thoughts with this
    1. China is a key player in the Middle East, and therefore, their actions and vocal actions with their Middle Eastern counterparts matter
    2. China is not a big economic influence to all of the Middle East, therefore does not really matter
  4. Mao Zedong, Chinese Communist Party Founder, sent weapons to the Palestinians as a support of national liberation
  5. China is now more friendly in terms of socioeconomic relationships, normalized relations
  6. Self-defense is okay, but Israel is beyond the scope of self-defense
  7. There was a rise in antisemitism; people claimed that Israel had committed a serious war crime, and committed genocide
  8. Experts believe support of Palestine would furnish the Chinese and their reputation → resonates with Muslim-majority countries + Arab countries + Global South
  9. China is seizing this opportunity to present themselves as better than the US
  10. China has refrained from direct attack to US (who has shown support to Israel)
  11. China is emphasizing and underplaying US’s peacemaking vocal efforts, and contrasting their position against US
    1. hard to do so without undermining Hamas, which would lead to undermining themselves
  12. Even given that China has been accused of rights abuses and genocide, the Arab World continues to support Palestine
  13. Supporting Palestine means scoring points with Arab relations

# Conclusion

  1. The most affected people: evidently, those who lived near the Israeli and Gaza strip border are hurt, but it is also stretching to news reporters who are maintaining professionalism, or some innocent civilians. The indirectly affected could be China, as if a country that holds influence over many industries and generally over multiple aspects holds a clear and explicit stance in war, it is ultimately dangerous.
  2. This event is important because it helps us deepen the understanding of Middle East relationships and the overall international situation. The Russia-Ukraine war is perfect evidence of how wars can result in overall bad effects on the economy, etc (evaluate more in speech!)
  3. My personal opinion: This article shows the rising tensions in the Middle East and the potential international wars that could arise. It is vital to understand one war has an everlasting effect, a signal for other wars and tensions to arise, and eventually into bigger, larger wars.
